The maBEETS Gauge Vote makes its official return on Sonic.

The Gauge Vote is a bi-weekly governance mechanism that empowers maBEETS holders to influence how BEETS emissions are allocated across specific liquidity pools on the DEX.

With the migration to Sonic, the system introduces a flexible approach to emissions, allowing participants to optimize rewards and direct incentives towards areas that they believe drive real value for the ecosystem.

Adapting to Sonic: A New Emissions Framework

With the migration to Sonic, BEETS emissions are now governed via an optimized quarterly budget system designed to allow a more efficient adaptation of emissions to change with fluctuations in market conditions.

This system prioritizes flexibility, enabling the protocol to dynamically allocate emissions to areas the DAO believes will have the most impact. This means that emissions are no longer purely a DEX incentive token, and could be allocated to any market that is deemed impactful.

For the first quarter of 2025, 5 million BEETS will be issued, with 2.5 million BEETS reserved for discretionary use by the Music Directors (MDs).

The Gauge Vote is a critical part of this emissions framework.

  • 1.5 million BEETS — 30% of total emissions — will be distributed based on gauge vote results, empowering maBEETS holders to determine which pools receive emissions.
  • 1 million BEETS will be allocated to the maBEETS pool, directly rewarding long-term participants who deposit BEETS and stS in the Reliquary.

This dual allocation ensures that governance participation and long-term commitment remain central to the ecosystem.

Another key change for the Beets Sonic deployment involves how protocol revenue is utilized. Unlike the Fantom DEX, where 70% of revenue went to the treasury, Sonic will prioritize funding gauge vote bounties.

The various protocol revenue streams are split between BEETS buybacks, treasury allocation, and bounties, creating a sustainable flywheel for liquidity incentives. This approach ensures that protocol growth remains community-driven, with revenue directly supporting gauge vote participation and ecosystem adoption.

Why the Gauge Vote Matters

The Gauge Vote isn’t just a governance tool; it’s a strategic mechanism for driving liquidity, aligning incentives, and empowering the Beets community — it is the economic DAO-powered engine that aligns liquidity and incentives across the Beets ecosystem.

• Users decide where BEETS emissions go.

• Protocols & DAOs attract liquidity for their token.

For protocols and DAOs, the Gauge Vote provides a capital-efficient way to attract liquidity. Offering gauge bounties allows them an efficient mechanism to incentivize their pools. For participants, it’s an opportunity to direct BEETS emissions where they most want, take an active role in shaping the protocol’s direction, and earn bounties for doing so.

By putting decision-making in the hands of the community, the Gauge Vote strengthens Beets's commitment to decentralization while driving sustainable growth across the ecosystem.

How the Gauge Vote Works

Participating in the Gauge Vote is straightforward and happens on a bi-weekly cycle.

  1. Mint maBEETS: Add liquidity to the Fresh Beets Pool (80/20 BEETS/stS) to mint maBEETS, a maturity-adjusted governance token. Your voting power increases as your position matures, rewarding long-term participation.
  2. Cast Your Vote: Use your maBEETS to vote on Snapshot. Every two weeks, participants decide how BEETS emissions are allocated across liquidity pools. Protocols may offer gauge bounties to incentivize votes.
  3. Earn Rewards: Gauge bounties are distributed by the Beets DAO and external protocols seeking to incentivize liquidity. The specific bounties placed are viewable on Hidden Hand, with the total rewards received based on an individual user vote weight.
  4. Shape Emissions: Updated farm emissions reflecting community votes go live every Wednesday, directing incentives where they’re needed most.

Gauge Bounties

As stated above, alongside controlling where BEETS emissions are directed, users earn rewards for voting for pools with bounties placed on them. These bounties come from Beets DAO protocol revenue and external protocols that want to incentivize liquidity for their tokens.

For the respective Beets DAO-issued bounties, 70% of all Sonic DEX fees are claimed every two weeks, swapped into $BEETS, and distributed (based on underlying protocol fee generation weighting) as Gauge Vote bounties on pools.

At first glance this may be confusing so let’s break it down with an example.

  • The Sonic DEX generates the DAO $10,000 in protocol fees in two weeks.
  • These protocol fees are claimed and swapped into BEETS.
  • One pool contributed to 50% of these fees.
  • As per the protocol fee split, 70% of these protocol fees flow as maBEETS bounties = $7,000.
  • As this pool generated 50% of the underlying fees, it has $3,500 BEETS placed on its Hidden Hand Vote market.

For this first gauge vote, 191,867 BEETS will be placed as bounties on the 10 following pools.

  • Staked Sonic Symphony — 115,015 BEETS
  • Fresh Beets — 47,934 BEETS
  • Put A Ring On It — 20,596 BEETS
  • Staked Sonic & Circle Concerto — 2,664 BEETS
  • High Speed Perfect Beets — 1,676 BEETS
  • Familio’s Still Ringing — 1,271 BEETS
  • THEY STAKED ON — 984 BEETS
  • Ringing Stable Beets — 846 BEETS
  • Ringing of Painted Melodies — 463 BEETS
  • Sonic Pub — Beer Lounge with lazy Bear Pooh — 416 BEETS

Shape the Next Chapter on Sonic

The maBEETS Gauge Vote is a key component of Beets’ evolution, enabling governance that aligns incentives and drives growth. By staking BEETS, participating in votes, and earning rewards, users play a direct role in shaping the protocol’s direction while maximizing their contributions to the ecosystem.

Leveraging sustainable flywheel participation helps direct incentives to the pools that matter most, fosters protocol innovation, and strengthens the foundation of Beets on Sonic. This is governance with tangible impact, driven by the community for the community.

Mint maBEETS. Cast your vote. Make your mark.

The Gauge Vote is back!
